It’s that time of year – the dreaded month of September
September is the worst month of the year historically for US stocks dating back to 1928. On average, the SPX is up 44% of the time in September for an average return of -1.6%.
Much of this weakness is typically loaded in the 1st half of the month. In fact, the 1st half of September is the 2nd worst 2 week trading period for the SPX dating back to 1928 (only 2H of February is a weaker period).
